Green Roof House is built as a private holiday house. The focus has always been to make it nice and easy to stay here. Let us give you some examples:

There are three bedrooms that can be rented individually or – preferred – as part of the whole house.
They are all equipped with a huge double bed (7 x 6 feet or 210 x 180 cm) and a single sofa bed (7 x 3 feet or 210 x 90 cm), all with mosquito net.
There is an air conditioner, a ceiling fan, and plenty of wardrobe space. In the living rooms, there are 3 more sofa beds, taking the total number of beds to 12.

The master bedroom
is around 30 sqm with an 12 sqm attached bathroom with double shower and two sinks.
It has ocean view and a balcony.
There are wardrobes but no table.

The upstairs and downstairs guest bedrooms
are exactly the same, except the upstairs the glass door opens to a balcony and downstairs it opens to the porch. They both have ocean view.
The size is about 25 sqm with an 9 sqm attached bathroom.
There is a small working table between the wardrobes.

The downstairs living room
has a 55 inch TV with to a hundred channels in English, French, Sinhala, Hindi and what not. You can play your own contents via Airplay or Chromecast, HDMI or USB.

The upstairs living room
has folding windows towards both the sea and the opposite side, so you can enjoy the sea breeze. There is a working table so all you need is to bring your own computer. We know from experience that it is a nice place to sit and work. But the room can also easily fit a whole yoga class…
In the corner where the kitchen elevator comes up, there is a small kitchen table with a sink, kettle and refrigerator.

The dining room
has a table for 12 – and sea view.

The kitchen
is quite big and equipped with plenty of machines: gas stove, dish washer, washing machine, refrigerator, rice cooker, electric coconut grinder, blender, stone grinder, combined oven with microwave, grill, and convection, electric kettle.
A water filter transforms tap water to drinking water that is safe to drink for anyone.
If you want coffee, you can choose between filter coffee in a thermos, French press, or Moca pot. There is a coffee grinder.
Outside, there is a barbecue.
You may only use the kitchen If you rent the whole house.
Rental kitchens are often empty except a bit of salt and sugar, and that means you have to buy a lot of things before you can cook. It is different here: there is a stock variety of food when you come, and please leave it the same way.

The main attraction outside is the swimming pool. It measures 26 x 10 feet (7.80 x 3 meters), so you can swim a bit as well as just dip in to cool off and play.
It is not very deep, because that is only allowed if there is a life guard. In the deep end it is 4.2 feet (1.25 m) and in the shallow end 3.2 feet (95 cm). So no jumping in, at least not head first.
The handrail on the staircase is in the middle so you use it comfortably even if you only has one good hand.
There is light in and around the swimming pool so you can use it at night.
Between the swimming pool and the road, there is a hut with a concrete table and four concrete stools – a shady place to sit while the kids play in the pool.
There is room for parking two or even three cars on the premises.

The perfect sandy beach is just across the street (The photo below is some years old, there is more commerce now, but the beach is the same). You can rent a beach bed and have people serve you drinks all day long, if you like, or you can lie directly on the sand.
The waves are big enough to jump through or practice surfing.
If you go about one kilometer to the left, you get to Hiriketiya Bay where the surf is better – and everything is more crowded.
If you only go about a hundred meters to the left, there are hardly any waves in the corner of the beach.
There is less than one kilometer to the shops on the main road. But you don't have to go that far to rent a bike or get a tuk tuk, they can both often be found on the street just outside our gate.

Chintaka runs everything here.
He can make make you all the meals you want for a reasonable price.
He can arrange transport to and from the airport or other locations.
He can arrange tours to all kinds of sights on the island.
This is not a hotel, so you will not get your bed made every day. You will get clean sheets, duvets, towels and beach towels once a week. There is hand soap in the bathrooms, but no other toiletries.
The house has an hair drier and a clothes iron.
Here are some of the sights near Green Roof House, hopefully arranged with the closest ones first. Search elsewhere for further information about the ones you are interested in.
Each of the above sights can be done in a single day, many of them in much less than a day. Below are some of the best sights of the island that are further away. Many of them are best visited as pearls on a string. Chintaka can help you arrange such tours with just the sights you want and just the price range of hotels and restaurants that suit you.
